Keep Cuero Beautiful

History of KCB

Established in 1986 as Beautify Cuero, Inc., members of Keep Cuero Beautiful have worked many hours to help beautify this community, to educate the citizens and school students about the importance of recycling, and to improve the environment. Upon organization under the leadership of Bess Blanton, KCB established programs of community beautification, education, anti-littering, and community-wide clean up projects. These efforts resulted in Cuero placing first in its population category in Keep Texas Beautiful’s 1987 Governor’s Award. The $30,000 award helped to beautify and landscape the town’s entry signs on State highways 87 and 183.

In 2004 the Cuero Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture revitalized KCB with a new committee under the able leadership of Ann Hedrick. The KCB Committee meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month, except July and August, at the Chamber’s Meeting Room, 124 E. Church St., at 9 AM. Any person interested in helping with any or all of the activities of KCB is welcome to attend. Contact the Chamber, 275-2112, for more information.

The present program of work for KCB includes several educational projects throughout the Cuero ISD and identified community areas for beautification and/or enhancement such as Highway 87S from the City limits to Park Heights Dr. and the 1300 block of N. Esplanade (highway 183).
