Keep Cuero Beautiful

ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS

Volunteers worked a total of 2200 hours of service.

Participated in Texas Recycles Day activity “Keep Plastic in Its Place,” which began the push to recycle plastic. The City is currently seeking grants for the proper equipment to move forward with this project.

Participated in Don’t Mess with Texas highway clean up. Volunteers clean entrances into the city and Sheriff’s Department cleaned arteries in the county.

Applied for and received HEB Green Bag Grant to eliminate an eyesore at the entrance of the Historic Business District.

Reconfigured and planned landscaping of a parking lot and berm by working with the City and Cuero Development Corporation (Phase I&II).

Applied for 501 c(3) status.

Appeared before City Council on several occasions to request permits and/or express our gratitude for City in-kind services.

Planned and presented student workshops (recycling,vermiculture, seedball making/sowing) to more than 600 students Pre-K – Grade 12.

Conducted a Recycle Center field trip for 5th graders .

Began an “Adopt a Planter” project in which KCB agree to design and plant the materials and the business owners agreed to water them.

Participated in Cuero Health Fair with handouts on recycling, water conservation, litter prevention.

Held Arbor Day Poster contests and planted a tree at the winner’s school and presented the winner with a crape myrtle for her home.


Sent a seventh grade teacher to a Waste in Place Workshop.

Used a vacant storefront to showcase KCB activities and information.

Held REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE community garage sales in the spring and fall. 40-50 booths spaces generated income for KCB and provided citizens a centrally located, advertised space to recycle.

Sponsored a Texas Waterway Cleanup of the Cuero Park Lake. Volunteers from Turkeyfest, WalMart, and HEB assisted volunteers and students remove 60 pounds of litter and debris from the banks.

Assisted Grace Episcopal Church at the 4th of July carnival and Turkeyfest Association at Turkeyfest.
